After days of heavy southwest monsoon rains and flooding, DENR NCR and environmental volunteers intensified cleanup operations across 27 waterway and coastal sites in Metro Manila on 17 August 2026, including the Buli-Sucat River in Muntinlupa. About 1,225 sacks of mixed solid waste were collected in the day. DENR Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna said proper waste management before garbage enters waterways remains the long-term solution.

Attendance was recorded on the day. Where planting is involved the survival count is taken again at sixty or ninety days, which is always a smaller number than the one announced on the day, and the only one worth publishing.
