Project RESHORE mangrove restoration, Bued Mangrove Eco-Park

Project RESHORE is a cash-for-work mangrove restoration programme running from 1 September to 31 October 2026 at the Bued Mangrove Eco-Park, restoring a 2.19-hectare section damaged by Typhoon Emong in 2025. Thirty qualified small-scale fisherfolk and residents from at-risk coastal households were trained on 26 August and work up to five hours a day clearing degraded mangroves, removing marine debris and planting new propagules, with allowances, protective gear and tools provided.

Participation is through the Alaminos City Government's selection of qualified fisherfolk and coastal residents.
Protective equipment and tools are provided by the foundation.

International Coastal Cleanup 2026, Lapu-Lapu City, 15 sites

Fifteen coastal sites across mainland Lapu-Lapu and Olango Island have been designated for the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup, starting at 6 a.m. under the theme Clean Seas for Resilient Communities. Sites include the Poblacion ferry boat area, Bridge Park in Pajo where the opening programme is held, Pusok, Ibo, Buaya, Liberty Shrine in Mactan, Punta Engaño, Maribago, Marigondon, Suba-Basbas, Babag, Calawisan, Canjulao, Looc and the Olango barangays of Caubian, Pangan-an and Caohagan. Government workers, residents, organisations, schools, businesses and other volunteers are invited.

SM Cares nationwide coastal cleanup at 32 malls

Pasay City, Metro Manila

SM Cares will run simultaneous coastal cleanups at 32 SM malls across Metro Manila, North and South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao for International Coastal Cleanup 2026, under the theme Bayanihan Para sa Karagatan, Together for Our Oceans. SM By the Bay in Pasay is the main Manila Bay site. In 2025 the drive drew more than 48,800 volunteers across 28 malls who collected over 200,000 kg of trash; earlier 2026 drives gathered 9,453 volunteers at 16 malls and 24,244 kg.

We Lift Club invites volunteers to a coastal cleanup at Aplaya, Baseco, Port Area, Manila from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. on International Coastal Clean Up Day, to reduce marine litter along Manila Bay. As of listing, 38 of 50 slots were filled. Participants receive e-certificates; minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian; there is a Php 500 registration fee, part of which supports the group's Hopefull campaign for indigenous children's education.

Wear dark clothes, pants, closed shoes and a head covering.

A mangrove sanctuary cleanup in Calatagan, Batangas on International Coastal Cleanup Day, running 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with van transport from Manila. Volunteers collect debris and remove waste from the coastal and mangrove environment. The listing seeks 37 volunteers, with 10 confirmed at the time of listing; a Php 999 fee covers van transport, lunch, snacks and community assistance.

Wear a cotton shirt, leggings or board shorts, thick socks or aqua shoes, head covering and sunblock.

The City Agriculture Office is touring barangays with its Gulayan sa Barangay programme, teaching residents practical urban gardening: hydroponics, seedling production, organic fertiliser and planting in recycled containers. The first session was held on 3 September in Barangay Agapito Del Rosario; remaining sessions are in Mining on 23 September, Pulung Cacutud on 24 September, Cut-Cut on 30 September and Sapangbato on 1 October. Residents of the participating barangays can attend.

Open to residents of the participating barangays.
Suggested: bring a notebook and a recycled container to practise with.

Someone reports a problem, the community corroborates it, and the verification team confirms it is real.

An organiser, often a barangay or a partner organisation, sets a date, a place, a target and the requirements.

Volunteers sign up and show up
Places are limited and a waitlist opens when full. Attendance is recorded on the day, because sign-ups are not a result.

The result is measured
Waste is weighed. Planting is counted again at sixty or ninety days. The numbers go on the case and on the dashboard.
