A whale shark (Rhincodon typus) about 16 feet long was found dead and stranded in the shallows at Purok 1, Barangay Bolisong, Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental on a Saturday, after residents alerted authorities. DENR Region X through CENRO Gingoog City, the Philippine Coast Guard, BFAR and the Kinoguitan LGU inspected the carcass and noted a wound roughly seven inches deep near the head; the cause of death was not determined.
